The Ginneken Market
'The center of the Ginneken' Ginnekenmarkt is a central square in the Ginneken in the south of Breda. Previously it was referred to as Plaatse. In 1877 it was called Marktplein. After the annexation of 1942 it was called Ginnekenmarkt to avoid confusion with the Grote Markt in Breda. The market is the centerpiece of Ginneken during the summer and during events. Close by is the 15th century Reformed Church of Ginneken. It is a triangular square with a village pump. The Ginnekenweg ends at the Haagsemarkt. Along the Ginnekenmarkt you will find hotel Marktzicht and some restaurants with terraces in summer. On the other side are nowadays real estate agents and stores. A fair is held every summer and every winter. This is a five-day festival week that is full of surprises. And different every day. With a multitude of presentations, performances and activities mainly by organisations from Breda and its surroundings. A feast of recognition.
