'A place of silence and reflection in the busy city center' The garden is located behind the former court houses in the Catharinastraat, an extension of the Reigerstraat (centre of Breda). The garden is named after Willem Merkx, mayor of Breda from 1967 to 1983. It was his farewell gift and he wanted a place of silence and reflection in the busy city center. It's a little green oasis in the middle of the city. In the garden there are several sculptures that make it worth a visit. Although the houses surrounding the garden are inhabited, the garden is open to the public during the day. In the evening the gate is closed, so that residents have peace.
