Wire of death

In Zondereigen, near the Belgian-Dutch border, the "De Dodendraad" peace monument was erected in 2008. It is a faithful reconstruction on the original site of a 2,000-volt electrical wire barrier from the First World War, which the Germans placed to separate occupied Belgium from the neutral Netherlands.
